In theory, full disclosure ought to be sufficient. Maybe all that's needed is the ability to "drill down" into the options position of a company more easily.

There are plenty of other accounting issues we could be discussing, like pension accounting, special purpose entities, and that old standby -- revenue recognition; I hope the options issue isn't being used as a dodge to avoid _those_.
