The sooner Europeans abandon wcdma and deploy GSM1X in its place the better. Its no longer, and really never has been a case of "whether" wcdma is a dud. It is a dud. Its always been a dud. And yes, at great expense to the carriers who believed them, Nokia and friends have squeezed a few extra pennies out of the GSM lemon and delayed QCOMs ascendance in the process. But that has happened and the issue on the table now is how do we move most quickly from here. And the answer is that the trickle of defections from the pipe dream become a torrent. With each additional WCDMA launch delay, and with each additional successful 1X launch, the torrent probability increases along with the probability that the defectors will look to GSM1X for salvation.

As a LTBH qcom investor, this is a good thing. Not a bad thing.
