Clinton taught 4th graders what a blow job was.

It could be argued that the people who taught the 4th graders were the people that, devoid of sufficient courage to challenge on issues that mattered, decided to make a national issue out of a blow job. But what the hell, concede that one. Probably created a few awkward parent-child moments, but hardly a national catastrophe.

He taught litigants that its OK to lie under oath.

It might be more accurate to say he taught litigants that powerful people can get away with things that ordinary people can't get away with. Most litigants, I suspect, already knew this.

He raised the bar on buying political influence...

If you look at our history with the rose-colored glasses off, you'll see that particular bar placed way beyond Clinton's wildest dreams.

I can't say that any of those are convincing arguments that the state of the nation has significantly deteriorated in the last decade.

Again, none of this is meant to excuse or condone, just to place the degree of the offense in some kind of realistic perspective.
