Kana is not a standalone value proposition- they needed to sell themselves to a larger company when they could but now the larger acquirers have no cash= too late.

The surviving software companies, sebl, psft ("the big guys") are GREAT buys in here because they are gaining so much share but these little ones are toast.

Funny, I bought some used furniture from a Kana VP in the last month. He came to SF to work at Kana and just left to go back east. I went over to see what he had (bed, dresser etc)- he bought this expensive stuff like 2 yrs ago. It wasn't quite my style and the bed was the most hard one even though he was selling it for almost nothing I passed. Then he sent me an email a few days later and asked me to pick up everything for free, he's leaving town and can't deal with this stuff. A typical story, people just want out of the bay area fast these days.
