Spinrite currently doesn't work on NTFS partitions. Hopefully the data you need is on a FAT partition. The PC I just built and am delivering to a friend tomorrow has a 120 GB WD HD also w/ the 8MB buffer. I like it too. It'll be the standard in a few years. Good luck with the recovery.
