Sounds very populist ("big boys", etc.).

The way to buy a company's assets on the cheap is to acquire its very senior debentures (wipe out other subordinated debentures and stockholders in the process) in bankruptcy court.

According to your "bid down" scenario, the stockholders will be first to be put up against the wall and shot (last in line to any claims). Ergo, AOL stock = Zero.

Either way, I couldn't care less.
