<Topic Four: Employment - many 30-something professional people in HK are accepting mainland China wage scales and moving across the border (USD 1.5-2.0k).>

Wow! US$2K per week in China. That's more than here by a long way. I am not surprised people are flooding into China from Hong Kong. I might flood too.

It's not surprising that Hong Kong and China would equalize voltages, in the same way that New York and the USA equalize voltages [more or less, though Hong Kong and New York will remain expensive because of various factors, mostly demand for living space and the crowding penalties which the presence of money and hordes cause].

Now that people have got their spending back to normal levels, things will restabilize at 'the going rate'.

The Y2K bug turned out to be the bug in our brains, which clicked over onto 00 and people's minds went haywire. I remember the worry about the computer bug clicking over to 00 and it turned out to be a fizzer. What a surprise that it was the irrationally exuberant hysteria in our brains in response to 00 excitement which was the real glitch.

Through history, there will be the graphs of stockmarkets to remind people looking back how crazy people could be. They'll do archaeological studies, check through our middens and prise open our DNA and feel similar to us in our studies of Aztec and Neanderthal clans.

Meanwhile, two years on and our feet are all back on the ground - which is silly because the most amazing times in biological history are coming up with vast profits for those who figure it out.
