These are trying times to be raising children.

Emily was supposed to go to an amusement park in Pittsburgh, with some of her cousins tomorrow. It got so that it was a group of 10 people going, but NO adult supervision. The oldest in the group was to be my 19 year old niece, which would have been fine, but currently she has a new boyfriend. The boyfriend was also going. Mike and I had to make the difficult decision, to not let our 13 year old daughter go on this activity. With the way girls are missing these days, it just did not seem a good decision to let her attend. Mike had a talk to her last night about our feelings on it. What was really awesome was that she said she understood, and was kinda GLAD we were not going to let her go. I found it interesting, that had we allowed her to go, she would have. Yet, she was wanting us to tell her she could not go. I think that reflects peer pressure on her. As for Mike and I and parenting in general, I think it says that kids sometimes want limits to be set. It worked out so smoothly, that makes me happy, but I know it won't ALWAYS be so easy.
I am glad she is home tonight, and not at my sisters house!!
