I actually cancelled a dinner date because I refused to miss American Idol.

You could tape it. I watch almost nothing at the time it's on. And then you get to fast forward through the commercials. Our last VCR did that automatically and perfectly, it was like magic (how did it know?) I forgot to ask if this one would do that so am forced to apply my finger to the ff button.
