when a govt becomes sufficiently big, then big problems arise
sure, plenty of well-meaning people in govt

I knew a great guy in Bureau of Census Statistics
but their hands are tied by rules, staggering task
I know a great guy in the FBI
but even he doesnt think we are sufficiently organized across multiple alphabet agencies to stop much of anything, including issuing visas
I knew a great guy in Bureau of Labor Statistics
he got out, saying they were given orders to reduce CPI and increase Productivity mechanisms
I knew a Beltway Bandit military contract consultant
he said it is one major league ripoff of taxpayer money
his stories were by far the juiciest, with expensive parts that could withstand nuclear attack and radiation exposure

the big problems that arise for burokracies come from INERTIA and SELF-PRESERVATION
the system grows without any controls
the system fights hard to prevent even the inefficient and ineffective from going away

I could go on, but I agree
it is healthy once in a while to PUKE
just be careful to brush the teeth afterwards

I will go so far as to say that our federal govt has legislated our national bankruptcy
