Neal, I'll be getting Jag when it is first released. But, not for the reasons you listed. At least not directly.

I bought an eMac for the G4 to run OS X on the day of the announcement, but I had been planning to for several months. By buying the computer, I get to upgrade to Jag for $20. I'm gun-shy about installing OS X onto the back of OS 9, because it seems like it is supposed to be the other way around. I'm not shy at all about installing an upgrade to OS X. Plus, I wanted to keep my OS 9.2.1 and take my time getting used to OS X. I've already gotten a taste of it with a previous Mac purchased as a Christmas gift.

There may have been a significant backlog of purchasers waiting on the results of MacWorld like I was. Next month back to school sales will give Apple a little boost. The Switch Ads are working to a certain extent. I doubt if anyone knows specifically how many new purchasers are switchers.

The economy is still contracting. The Macintosh, outside of professional video, audio and print publishing, is a luxury ticket item. Until there is a reversal in the overall trend of airing dirty laundry and domino bankruptcies, money for such items will be tight.
