I was in a Circuit City Store this afternoon. There were 3 Compaq desktops with Athlons and two eMachines Desktops with Athlons.

I don't think I've ever seen such a large proportion of AMD chips in the desktops at Circuit City (Best Buy used to have a lot, never Circuit City - I haven't been in a Best Buy, for a while, but they seem to have fewer AMD systems in their ads).

The other thing that I found interesting was that they didn't have a single laser printer for sale (which is what I was looking for).

On a less encouraging note. I then went to an OfficeMax store (where they did have laser printers) and the place was beyond packed with merchandise - it was stacked in the aisles. This particular store (and the Circuit City a few stores down) are newly opened stores, so their inventory levels may not be typical.

If they are typical, then OfficeMax won't be ordering much, for a while. Not a great sign for a tech recovery.
