Just been reading the Friedman review of the Stiglitz book on the IMF, which I bookmarked earlier but didn't get to until now. Interesting. I find points with which I agree, and others with which I have to strongly disagree. One thing I find conspicuously lacking is discussion of viable alternative policies, and means by which they might be implemented. There is also an emphasis on state involvement in economies that I find a bit shaky, considering the close links between the governments in many of these countries and the feudal elites that bear, in my opinion, as much responsibility as the IMF (likely more, in many cases) for economic problems.

Have you read the book? Is the review a reasonable summary of the arguments?
