10:06 ET QCOM Qualcomm: Motorola may be developing own CDMA chipset (26.89 -1.24) Bear Stearns says that channel checks indicate that MOT is developing its own CDMA chipset, despite the fact that it had initially indicated it would go exclusively with 1x systems from QCOM; appears that MOT is in advanced discussions and testing in order to approve chipsets from other suppliers, and firm suspects a private co will supply MOT for some 1x handsets late this year/early next year; mkt has been expecting that all of the 1x biz would go to QCOM and may imply risk to firm's QCOM ests.
