What seemed to you not to add up? I always assume there's more to stories; but there would have to be a whole LOT more to change the basic configuration of that story.

Seems like one call to Janet Reno's Justice Dept would have taken care of things.

That's a puzzling idea. How would that call have worked? Like, what would be a hypothetical transcript of it that would have resulted in the convictions being "take care of"?

I hope that now that it's made the NYT, some of the investigative magazine shows will pick it up.
