Though I seriously doubt you are correct in any case(highways included), I'll accept government involvement in a number of things(highways included), so long as the vast bulk of what government does is removed from its budget. It is difficult to imagine what might have developed without tax-funded highways, but I suspect the beauty of it might surprise us all.
