Steve Peace strikes again (will you San Diego people PLEASE get rid of this guy?)

For those of you not scoring from home, bought-and-paid-for Steve is the California legislator who authored the deregulation bill (well, actually the utilities authored it, but he put his name on it). Now he is weighing in on behalf of Intuit and H&R Block to make sure we have to buy their software to file our taxes. The state would like to just offer a web service to anyone whose browser has the necessary encryption strength, which would obviously threaten both the people selling tax prep software and those charging for the by-hand preparation. A few campaign contributions later, there is a bill pending which would insure it never happens. In the thick of it, our "public servant" Steve. Details are at
siliconvalley.com, including ..."the industry has enlisted the support of two powerful politicians: Sen. Steve Peace, D-La Mesa, and former Assembly Speaker Robert Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys.

Come on, San Diego, look at your energy bills, look at stuff like the above, and let's give Steve the same title as Hertzberg, ie, "former" Senator!
