Freddy, I am not trying to impugn the debater!!! I think, again, you are mixing up a lot of what I say. And remember, I am a dimwit as well, so let me try to sort this out.

Weighing statistics is, of course, not appropriate in a FORMAL debate. I was actually interested in debating, and studied it in high school, and I understand that the motivation of the debater is irrelevant, as it is an intellectual exercise and one may argue on either side, for fun!!

When I was talking about that I was trying to get to a better understanding of some the underlying positions of the debaters around here, who are NOT doing it for exercise for the most part, but because of deeply held beliefs. Where I was going with that is that it is perhaps simpler to talk at the level under the statistics, nearer to the heart, at the Feelings thread, because we are going to question each other's statistics in any event, and never get to any better understanding of each other's positions, and bore more people for longer periods of time . . .

Okay, great, no race riots in the south!! I think you did imply there were none, and of course there have been many of them. I could have easily disproven that one.

I am totally aware that you not given your own personal view on the slavery issue. I was trying to provoke a response.

On the SIDS issue, I don't think we are going to get anywhere. First of all, infants spend varying amounts of time indoors. Many infants are outside several hours a day. And I think you are still maintaining that the air outside does not travel inside. I don't believe that is the case. Air pollution is harmful. I'm not sure what your point is here. While SIDS is complicated, it is a respiratory illness. Air is what we breathe. Are you arguing that air pollution is not harmful, or what?

One of the main reasons I left Los Angeles was reading data over a period of several years that indicates the air quality there is the equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. Fifteen-year-olds living in LA have lung damage/decreased lung capacity that can be documented clinically. It disturbed me that there are days where children are not allowed to exert themselves or play outside during school lunches/recess because air quality alerts have been posted. Because of my own experience with all of this, I have a well-founded belief, backed by statistics from many sources, that air pollution is harmful. What is it you disagree with, anyway? How much cause and effect do you need?

Throwing in NFC winners in the Superbowl and bull markets is more obfuscation.
