OT I don't expect Litwick.com to answer my question. But it is relatively easy to backtest historical charts patterns to do emperical analysis. Bigcharts and Stockcharts are both quite good for this. We can, for example, scan for biggest gainers over the last 5 days, then look at the charts to see whether their reversals were predictible as compared to a control group. As for sustainability, we would naturally have to look back at another historical inflection point.

One stock that had a fabulous bullish engulfing pattern last week was AZO.
