How many of the 800 million granted have already been exercised?
you seem to not know how this works, MSFT shareholders exercised 600 million shares ONTOP of all buy backs.... and as of MSFT's most recent report just a few days ago, MSFT still has 800 million options outstanding...... NONE OF THEM EXERCISED yet.....
as of the last time MSFT showed the break down of strike prices and average strike prices..... MSFT had strike prices as low as .56 cents a share...... 342 million options with strike prices less than about $43 a share, and about 440 million options with strike prices less than about $55 a share.......
calculating the average strike price would be nice for a shareholder... that is IF you as a shareholder saw any of this average strike price..... the problem is you as a shareholder never SEES ANY of this average strike price... NONE of it....
i'll repeat so it is more current in your memory.... NONE OF IT, those 600 million new shares to your basic share count, is not in theory, this is fact... your basic share count grew by 600 million shares ALREADY, INCLUDING ALL MONEY returned to the shareholder from these average strike prices....through buy backs, or any other method for that matter.....
none of that 600 million shares that has been issued ever needed a calculation of average strike prices, because those shares are not partial shares, none of them came with rebates, none of them are "special shares" they are exactly like your shares, with the same dilutive power.....
and as far as some unseen benefit that you seem to have claimed by MSFT gaining employees since 1997-1999? what exactly has these employees contributed? a copy of PS2 producing negative margins?
i could hire several thousand bums to give me negative margins for years on end...... what benefit has a shareholder received from these new employees? higher stock price? bigger dividend? higher earnings ? future earnings power? none of it has been your benefit, as a matter of fact earnings are trending down instead.....Revenue growth is trending down instead... mainly due to having to pay so much money to these new employees in the form of pay.... all types of pay, including stock options.....
Even Unearned Revenue has to more rapidly come to the top line in future reports, because new Revenue is coming so slowly.....
