Hi Snowshoe - what always hits me when reading about this kind (or any kind when talking PGM) of deposits is...

>>Soil sampling has delineated several zones of anomalous platinum, up to 1,300 ppb<<

so lets make it 1,000 ppb, means moving 1 thousand tons of material to get at one 1kg of the target metal.

so...

>>The Goodnews Bay platinum mine produced about 600,000 troy ounces of platinum metal concentrate from placer deposits in the Salmon River Valley<<

...here's a question: how much dirt did they have to move to get at it. And a supplementary q: where did all this dirt end.

Thank God, it's not As-laced (or is it?) like in some / several Au deposits.
