My reading of this thread over the last few months, along with reading the media, has me scratching my head and wondering if we have lost sight of our original goal from last year.
We were attacked, and had several thousand people killed. The people who attacked us, and want us all dead, are known. They are Arab Terrorists. They are living in many countries, and are hidden, supported and trained by some of them. We know pretty well who and where they are.
We made it clear last year that we were going to get them all, and not stop until we did. We knew that this was going to take attacks by us on several countries, was going to cost a lot of men and money, but that it had to be done or we would never be safe.
Now the drumbeat is rising to stop us from doing any more than we have. Half the posters to this thread don't believe that we should attack Iraq, Iran, Syria, the Hizbollah in Lebanon, or anywhere else that would cost us any men or money. The media is pushing a stop to all Military action.
The answer back to my post will be, "Well, you can't prove that taking this type of action will stop the terror attacks." No I can't. But I can guarantee you that if we don't go after these people full force, and keep after them, we will, for sure, have more major terror attacks. Remember, one of the reasons Bin Ladin believed he could get away with 9/11 was that we turned tail and ran in Lebanon and Somalia. If we back off now, we will have the same thing happen again.
We seem to be like the Israelis, when the left over there was in power, and believed they could negotiate with Arafat. Israel had to go though attack after attack before the left faced reality and realized that they were going to have to settle Arafat's hash.
Maybe it is going to take more attacks before the left here shuts up and joins in believing we have to get these guys. I sincerely hope not. Just in case any of you have forgot why we are fighting here is Bin Ladin's "Fatwa" issued in Feb of '98
