Alan Bell: It makes sense to be that aggregate government stats would need revision for the component company restatements announced to date and that would be announced in the coming months. It's hard to know at this point the materiality of and the quantity of coming announcements leading up to CEO sign-off day. From a CEO viewpoint, I would think this is an ideal time to write-down as much as possible since there has been and likely will be lots of companies making announcements. Companies that take a write-off hit now will not have to charge future earnings with these questionable investments they are still carrying on their balance sheets. P
