Oldow Professor and Department Head Structure and Tectonics Office: McClure 301B Phone: (208) 885- 7327 Email: oldow@uidaho.edu Research Interests: My research interests are centered on the tectonic evolution of Phanerozoic rocks of the Great Basin, the Pacific Northwest, the Aleutian volcanic arc, Arctic Alaska and northwestern Canada, and the central Mediterranean. Emphasis is placed on deciphering the geometry and kinematics of extensional, contractional, and transpressional deformation belts and their relationship to plate margin tectonics. My work is strongly field based and utilizes structure, geothermobarometry, geochronology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, GPS (Global Positioning System) geodesy, geophysical modeling, and GIS (Geographic Information System) compilation. Seabridge president Rudi Fronk stated that with the completion of the Courageous Lake acquisition, the company has now reached its stated 2002 target of controlling more than 10 million ounces of gold resources. "While we continue to look for additional gold acquisition opportunities, Seabridge will also undertake programs to enhance the value of projects already acquired. At Courageous Lake, we plan to conduct additional metallurgical testwork which we believe has the potential of demonstrating a viable project at less than $350 (U.S.) gold per ounce. Preliminary work performed by previous owners suggest that Courageous Lake ore is amenable to numerous metallurgical processes suitable for refractory ores. With recent technological improvements in bio-oxidation, roasting and autoclaving (all of which will be assessed by Seabridge), we are confident that we can dramatically improve the economics of the 5.7 million ounce Courageous Lake orebody," said Mr. Fronk. At Closing, Seabridge paid Newmont/Total $2.5-million (U.S.) and a 2.0-per-cent net smelter royalty interest in the Couageous Lake project. A further $1.5-million (U.S.) is payable to Newmont/Total when the spot price of gold closes at or above $360 (U.S.) per ounce for 10 consecutive days. A final $1.5-million (U.S.) is payable to Newmont/Total when the spot price of gold closes at or above $400 (U.S.) per ounce or a production decision is made at Courageous Lake, whichever is earlier. To purchase Courageous Lake, Seabridge also closed its previously announced private placement of 3.2 million units at $1.70 per unit for total proceeds of $5.44-million. Each unit consists of one common share and one-half of a common share purchase warrant exercisable for one year at $1.90. Shares issued under this financing will be subject to a four-month hold period expiring on Nov. 19, 2002. There were no commissions or finder's fees payable on this financing. stockwatch.com Chucka GO AIVN to $2 when folks GET IT |
