Acquisitions paying off for Cable & Wireless 29 July 2002 The combined expertise of Digital Island and Exodus has propelled Cable & Wireless to the forefront of the web hosting market, according to leading networks magazine, Network World. A recent article on its website, Network World Fusion, says Cable & Wireless' shrewd acquisition strategy has left it poised to offer a complete range of IP services globally, from networking to managed Internet services such as security and content distribution. And customers say integration of the two companies into Cable & Wireless was a smooth process.
One of the reasons the article gives for Cable & Wireless' strength in Internet services is the complementary nature of the three companies. Duncan Black, director of corporate solutions strategy at Cable & Wireless, explained: 'It's not like one large hosting company taking over another large hosting company. The companies all had different core competencies and are very complementary in terms of our overall strategy for e-business infrastructure.'
This strategy takes the three distinct capabilities of global IP connectivity, managed web hosting and content distribution, and provides a range of complete solutions which address the needs of Cable & Wireless customers.
The integration of Digital Island and Exodus has helped Cable & Wireless expand to become the world's largest provider of web-hosting solutions. Today, it's one of only two companies recognised as an industry 'Leader' by research firm Gartner Inc, in its 2002 North American Web Hosting Magic Quadrant report. Gartner's rating of Cable & Wireless was based on analysis of a number of factors, including financial strength, the return on investment customers can expect, and the breadth of services on offer.
In addition, the company has unique combination of attributes including award-winning networks, competitive service levels, financial stability and value. To find out more about this story, contact us. |
