Two charged over Millionaire quiz inquiry

Two people have been charged by detectives investigating an alleged fraud on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Contestant Tecwen Whittock faces charges of conspiracy and deception over an edition of the show in which Major Charles Ingram won £1 million.

His wife Diana Ingram has now also been charged with conspiracy and deception.

The police inquiry relates to an edition of the show last September.

Mr Whittock, a 52-year-old lecturer from Whitchurch, Cardiff, is charged with one count of "conspiracy to procure the execution of a valuable security by deception" under the Criminal Law Act 1977.

The second charge is "procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception" contrary to the Theft Act 1968.

Mr Whittock, Major Ingram and Mrs Ingram were detained by the Metropolitan Police last November on suspicion of conspiring to swindle the programme's makers, Celador Productions.

Mr Whittock and Mrs ingram have both been bailed to appear at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on August 7.

Major Ingram is also still on bail.
