re: Why don't they try a capital equipment tax credit to spur business spending? That's what sucks right now. I already know the answer -- it would take congress six months to even took at it.

They looked at it when they passed the tax cut; ultimately they decided on accelerated depreciation.

In the current environment, a cap ex tax credit would be labeled "corporate welfare", and would have as much chance of passing as Bernie Ebbers has of being awarded businessman of the year.
