So I hear that Disney is saying there is weakness in forward bookings. Only one way I know that can happen since last year included time right after the wtc and surely they had to have lower park attendance then and it's if a consumer spending slowdown is already upon us.

Well yeah but what do they mean "advanced reservation trends"... is that quarter over quarter? That would be the only meaningful metric I would say. I'm sure travel has to be down from last year, the qtr includes july/aug correct? (those had to be blockbuster months in 2001 compared to now). I don't follow dis but this one is going to be hard to gauge I'd say.

WRT travel though, we are being *bombarded* by Las Vegas ads up here. Not sure if its some kind of target marketing knowing so many here are out of work, or if LV is desperate... or what. (ads are amusing though)

I4:52PM Walt Disney (DIS) 16.83 -0.90: -- Update -- Says the down turn in the travel/tourism industry as well as the economy as a whole is impacting the company's businesses. Also, Disney is experiencing softness thus far in Q4 (Sep) in attendance and advanced reservation trends at theme parks. As such, Disney expects that EPS for Q4 (Sep) will likely be somewhat lower than last year.
