I read that too, utterly absurd. They blew it.

I'm afraid a lot of things that need to be done are going to suffer, as the emphasis moves to how to win the next campaign, not what needs to be done for the safety of our country and its citizens.

The media is already talking about Bush losing the White House for the same reason his Dad did. That's why he's so worried about the economy now. I also think he's trying to get the spotlight off his and Cheney's deals. Cheney's schedule has actually been cut to keep him out of the public eye while his dealings are being investigated.

I can't remember any other President's being so publicly outspoken about the economy, especially when they're denying the facts and saying everything is just fine and really have no clue what they are talking about anyway <g>

I liked Reagan's attitude, when he was asked about the markets once, he answered "markets go up and markets go down" and kept out of it - publicly at least.

Just wait until the Democrats choose their candidate, and all the dirt digging up begins, and takes over the airwaves until we've all had enough. The overhaul our security and intelligence needs will be the last priority.

Everything important that needs attention will take the back burner as moves that will enhance his legacy and ensure the election win will take priority.
