re: Since then, we have learned that under Jeb Bush, FLA is probably one of the most corrupted states in the union where very little works well.

Could you elaborate on that statement?

John, starting with the 2000 vote counts in a number of counties where miscounting was pretty widespread, and where the miscounting tended to favor the party orientation of the counter. During the past year, there have been a least two incidents of children getting lost in the welfare system and to my knowledge have not been found to date. When investigated, it was reported there was considerable doctoring of files and out and out misrepresentation of the facts.

Then, after the national election, 60 Minutes reported that there were a number of people [I don't remember the approximated figure] who had been eligible to vote in the that election, and were registered to vote but were denied the right to vote when they got to their precinct. There have been several other items as well but I don't recall the details and I don't have the time to look them up. Recently, however, I posted an article from the Tampa Tribune which reported the difficulties candidates had in getting qualified. Apparently, the Division of Elections gave out wrong information and then a Fedex jet crashed in Tallahassee confusing matters further. To make matters worse, the Sectary of Elections Ms. Harris was in DC dealing with international trade issues???? What does that have to do with elections.....and wasn't she the same Ms. Harris who spent more time outside FLA during the campaign then in the state. You can read the article I posted in 148870 on this thread.

My point is that FLA screwups and suspicious behavior allegedly attributable to corruption seem to make the news wires at least once a month. Having said all that, I realize you are a FLoridian and probably don't appreciate my trashing your state; however, I was in the heat of argument and trying to make a point. And I think your beaches and your residents are great; in fact, some of my family lives there........and no I will not give you their name and address.......they don't like to be fire bombed. ;~((
