I did not even comment on the article, so why assume above ?
but since you insist ........

Let's examine what the author actually said:
"great gold rally of 2002 may already have run its course"

Let's use actual 2002 numbers:
Gold: max gain was 17.5%, now up 9% YTD
XAU: max gain was 62.9%, now up 14% YTD

Gold has given back nearly 50% its gain,
and the XAU almost 80% of its gains.
If that isn't running its course, it's damn close ;)

Don't know why you bring up $260 from 2001 when talking about 2002,
but seeing $260 again in 2002 is as unlikely as seeing $400 in 2002.
