well, sorry to be dense but why are PCs so crucial as an IT capex spending metric anyway?

Siebel 7 has nothing on the client, nothing to download to the browser at all (I hear- which some say makes it slow). Oracle 11i still has something you need to download to make it work, Sap is more like Sebl with everything on the server.

So from an enterprise standpoint the transition from client/server to the new architectures would not bode well for PCs. Servers another matter. And 11i is just now being adopted so theres still a lot of fat clients out there who are going to be replaced with thin ones.

This relentless focus on PC ASPs has me dumbfounded. No that the feeling is anything new for me, though.
