Official Tidbit:

Bob Miller just got back from another trip to Arizona, where he did a (re)presentation to all the "..new guys.." and management at our dealer out there. Sounds like things are revving up a little...!!

Sales personnel at any dealer change every now and then, so it helps to bring the newbies up to speed. The guys that moved on at least know what a Laforza is, when it comes time to talk about nifty SUVs around the coffee urn.

As you may recall, the AZ dealer just took delivery of a new Laforza Magnum recently (..with all the whistles and bells..), and the folks out there are really impressed with the air conditioning system.

The dry heat of AZ poses special problems, so a higher capacity condenser in front of the radiator under the hood (..and I presume larger compressor and evaporator unit..) were included.

I'd have to dig out my Carrier Manual-J to make sure, but with the lower humidity I believe you need higher cooling capcity to offset the sunbake effect out there. Latent heat contained in the moisture in the air is removed as the air passes over the A/C cooling coils (..in the evaporator unit..) under your car's dashboard. The condensate (..liquid sweating off the cold coils..) is then drained outside by a hose - making those little puddles you occassionally see on your driveway, etc.

Removing latent heat from the cars interior (..most everywhere else..) allows your body to cool itself by evaporating moisture off your skin at a higher rate. Removing sensible heat (..dry air heat..) makes you feel immediately cooler as it passes over your skin. Like when you point the air ducts directly at yourself in a hot car. It's a little more complicated than that (..dry bulb temp, wet bulb temp, psychrometric charts, recycle rate, etc., etc..), but at least the guys at the Laforza shop solved the problem - and the folks in AZ are "..happy as a clam in sand.." about it.

Hey, Laforza's are "...COOL..." - what can I say....!! Tee hee.

John :-)
