JW, my "bookflation" index has CPI increasing even recently. I personally see prices increasing further as vendors try to stay afloat by raising prices. As consumers get more tightfisted, _maybe_ mainstream products will start coming down, but the prices of "luxury goods" like technical books will skyrocket as they go out of print. Anything that's not dirt-cheap to make or can't be sold to 100% of the population will be discontinued.
