CPI is not a measure of everything, but instead a "representative" sample.

You are right in attempting to point out the danger of representative samples. They are a powerful tool, but are vulnerable to misuse. In fact, the BLS misuses them all the time by hiding behind the cloak of representative sampling to disguise blatant skewing of the CPI to suit their own ends (described earlier to you by JWCB).

The CPI excludes a lot of things that would rightly be included if it were to be a measure of actual consumer costs.
