Good points, Bill. I think the gist of what I wanted to say is that people balance price and performance/quality.

For example, I'm writing this using a Pentium 166 running NT. "What!?" you may say, "don't you know that a Pentium Pro 200 is substantially faster and technically superior?".

Of course I know that. But just "a pentium pro is the better machine" is not enough argument to justify to management the purchase of a new computer.
