Beatles: It just gets better and better

my 2 youngest , 8 & 10, are deep in the grasp of the White Album these days. A far cry from the "she loves you" days of not so long ago

we listened to the whole White Album, Revolver, Rubber Soul and ended with Sgt Pepper on a drive to Waco and back today. As I listened to Sgt Pepper in it's entirety, a rare occurrence as I usually skip a few tracks, it hit me anew what a brilliant and fantastic piece of work it is. Forget the technology of the day and the truly amazing production. .. A song cycle of genius proportions. Each song perfect by itself but so very powerful when made part of the whole. This is the Beatles at their peak..all working together to enrich each other's compositions

as I listened I thought about Peach's story of when it was first released and they all sat around in silence and listened to it for the first time. You never know what it's impact will be with a new release. ...will time make it less important and so on. Today as it faded from Sgt Pepper (the last) into "A Day in the Life" I got goosebumps for some reason.( not the first time) Imagining how it must have felt to be a true fan.,.living that scene..hearing "A Day in the Life" for the first time.

I remember where I was the first time....riding in my parents 72 Buick Skylark along River Road near New Braunfels after a day on the Guadalupe River....the middle section where Paul pipes in "Woke up..fell outta bed..."

that's when the Beatles started to mean something to me.

seeing it mean so much to my kids is such a joy for me
many say they were/are over-rated. I disagree...they are under-rated

John, Paul, George, Ringo--Their GRIP tightens each and every year around my soul..

entwined within and between the generations..

connecting us all
