The problem with gold is that it is a form of hoarding, not investing. Which is deeply contrary to our modern Western way of thinking.

During the thirties FDR confiscated all the US gold to keep people form hoarding it. Does anyone know what happened in the rest of the world? Did any other countries confiscate the gold? If a foreign citizen in another country owned a US gold coin at that time, did the US try to grab it?
