Hong Kong Journal: I had an odd experience today.

I visited the barber shop to do the monthly routine of viciously thinning out and cutting short my crop of hair, and instead of the usual 6 barbers, one hair-washer, and one cashier, plus a few customers, the place had no customers, and staffed with 4 barbers, a hair washer, and no cashier.

I have been using the barbershop for as long as I have been in Hong Kong. They are fairly priced (about USD 12 for cut and wash), friendly, and old-timers with some conversational perspective.

They report that 2 barbers and the cashier were asked to leave due to lack of customers, and they say they have never had the economy affecting their business. It is as if all of a sudden everyone decided to not use barbers.

At this rate, I expect the massage parlor to be next in line for down-sizing. A sad day.

Chugs, Jay
