The United States will give strangers tons of wheat, but those hungry for justice may have to wait longer. We won't give up an ounce of our sovereignty.
Good old Mary McGrory, keeping the red flag flying high.
What is the connection between wheat and justice?
The only connection I can see is that foreign aid to most Third World countries winds up in Swiss bank accounts that belong to whatever strong man is raping that country at the time, while the people continue to starve.
Should the US give an ounce of sovereignty to those Third World strong men? Shall we cede an ounce of sovereignty to those who control Somalia, Ethiopia, Pakistan, China, Sudan, Congo, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Cuba, Argentina, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Zimbabwe, Egypt, and the like? My vote is no.
My older son came up with a very good example of the greatest good for the greatest number -- gang rape. The rapists clearly are receiving the greatest good for the greatest number. The suffering of the rape victim is not only irrelevant but preferable if you espouse this theory. |
