These are the kind issues I was referring to. We have customers that a put a deposit down on a layaway. The rules are 10% are forfeited in the event they cancel the layway if the layaway is maintained for more then fifteen days. The store policies are posted in three locations in each of our store. Also, the customer signs a contract for the layway with the policies right above their signature. Next to the line for the signature is a text line "I have read the above store policies and agree to them". Six months later they want/need to cancel the layaway but they was want the 10% back and I hear you never told me about the 10%. This is responsible? I could go on forever about damaged merchandise that of of course fell apart on its own, etc. People do not want to take responsibility for damage they caused or for any expense that came from their lack of care. They prefer to lie about it. I do not consider this an ethical nor a responsible person. That was pretty much my point with Bill. I have no argument that there are very ethical and responsible people but to say that is the majority, is very inaccurate.

Please keep in mind this is a generality. It is not specific to any individual here nor do I believe it varies geographically at least within the USA and Canada for that matter.
