That's exactly the conclusion that I've come to. Our two most recent major wars were rackets.

Viet Nam was unecessary and was fought to enrich the defense contractors. The U.S. was never really threated by Viet Nam in any way. When we pulled out, the commies fought each other and the domino effect never materialized. The only thing that did materialize was huge profits for the defense industry. Can you say racket!

The Gulf War was pre-arranged and fought for defense contractors and oil companies elites. We supplied Saddam with weapons during the 1980s and encouraged him to invade Kuwait. We wanted to gain a military stronghold in the oil rich mideast and Saddam was our perfect vehichle. Also, with the waning Soviet threat, we needed a new military boogyman to justify high defense budgets and Saddam was the perfect boogeyman to perpetuate the continous war. Can you say racket!

Both wars were rackets that created immense wealth for the already immensly wealthy. Anyone who wants to understand how post World War 2 American society functions should read George Orwell's 1984. That is in essence what has been going on in this country for the past 50 years or so. An elite class is manipulating the masses into supporting never ending wars and high military spending. The "War on Terrorism" is a continuation of this effort. As is the newly emerging war against Iraq. WAR IS PEACE! What a racket!!!
