We ended a century of democratic rule in Chile and set up and supported a military police state under Pinochet. Yes, Pinochet was an evil man. He seized power in an undemocratic way and ruled with an iron fist (I guess you have no problem with that). If the rightwing didn't like the results of the elections that placed Allende into power, they should have waited for the next election to defeat him at the polls. If Allende really was that bad, the people would have voted him out of office. That is how democracy works. It seems strange to have to explain that to you. I guess you don't believe in democracy and the rule of law??? The U.S. could use a dictator like Pinochet now??? No thanks brownshirt! And you wonder why liberals think conservatives are estenially facists. Your antidemocractic, pro-dictator statements show the true facist colors of conservatives. Pinochet may have been a great ruler if he had been democraticly elected and allowed political dissent in his country. But, he seized power in a coup and was a power hungry thug like any other dictator. That is not a great ruler.
