Logan Int'l Airport Receives Praise By JENNIFER PETER 08/05/2002 17:50:46 EST BOSTON (AP) - The new leader (LEADER? A BIT ORWELLIAN ISN'T IT?)of national aviation security applauded Logan International Airport on Monday for its aggressive response to the Sept. 11 attacks and defended the performance of his own beleaguered agency. Making his first airport visit since becoming head of the Transportation Security Administration in mid-July, retired Coast Guard Adm. James Loy called the criticism of Logan last fall "a bit unfair" and said the airport has been "on the leading edge" in pursuing security improvements. Hijackers boarded two planes at Logan on Sept. 11 and flew them into the World Trade Center towers. Acting Gov. Jane Swift, who appeared with Loy at a news conference, called his choice of Logan for his inaugural visit "a testament to the progress we've made here."
