And it tells a sad tale. In '92 and '96, AMAT's P/S bottomed at 1.5 or less. Now it is 4.5 or so. Either sales must go up, or - dare I say it - share price has to gulp! drop to half or less. Now that sounds just horrible. But if we account for AMAT's 4 to 1 split since '96, we notice the pre-split share price would be approx $50/sh. So a 50% drop would take amat near the old low of 20 (pre-split).

edit. I'm cheering for sales to go up!
