Mitch,

Medical Question. Why is it that the same information repeated over and over, evokes the identical response even though it should no longer come as a surprise to the receiver of said information? They must have a medical term for this type of behavior. Seems as though each firm has come out on a different day with basically the same information and each time the sector has been hit with another 5%+ selloff. If it continues at this rate for many more weeks, I may make a bid for AMAT with the change in the sofa cushions.

Brian

Both BofA and Piper Jaffray said that they expect to see declining semi equipment orders in Aug and Sep (AMAT -7%, NVLS -5.1%, KLAC -5.3%). Lehman also chimed in on computer-hardware (estimates will be reduced to match IT spending, does not see catalyst for strong upturn in spending).
