HYG-t...in the news: Hydrogenics installs HyUPS back-up fuel cell generator Tue 6 Aug 2002 News Release Mr. Pierre Rivard reports HYDROGENICS ANNOUNCES SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION OF HYUPS(TM) AT ... Hydrogenics has successfully installed its HyUPS regenerative back-up fuel cell power generator at a trial site provided by Nextel Communications in Northern California. "We are very pleased with the progress of what we believe is an industry first demonstration," said Pierre Rivard, president and chief executive officer of Hydrogenics. "In preparation for the trial of this alpha unit, Hydrogenics made great strides in understanding how to design and operate a reliable, efficient fuel cell power generator." Now that the unit has been installed at a commercial cell site, the next step of the trial will simulate grid power failure conditions in order to test the 25-kilowatt HyUPS system under a variety of operating conditions. The trial is expected to last through to the end of the summer.
