I think some in the Senate already know the answers to your questions....why else would Bidden and Liberman be saying there would be war, just a matter of when? Do you suppose there are actually pieces of information, and proof, that the NYT and WP doesn't have.................yet?

No, I think the Senate version of the Democratic party is scared of this issue. They lose politically if they don't foster these conversations and they fear they will lose politically if they oppose attacks. So they've come up with these awkward formulations. The only one I can see that actually favors an attack is Lieberman. Who, with Miller, the Georgian Senator, and perhaps a couple of others whose names don't immediately comes to mind, occupies the right wing of the party.

Best I can tell it's Daschle's work, though I suspect he has lots of help.
