Just a quick input on the issue. I just finished listening to CSCO's conference call when Chambers addressed the issue as a result of one of the questions(About 1 and 1/2 hours into the conference call).

He pointed out that last year when they gave options, the cost to the company was about 3.5B(that's B as in Billion) - today those options if exercised would cost approximately 150M(that's M as in Million). Clearly, to have expensed the options last year would have been an overkill. Nobody knows what the true cost will be until the options are exercised or expired.
