Jay, we are finally on the same side! I would be amazed if GeorgeW doesn't send the troops into Iraq. All the noise, various strategies, blah blah blah is just to add smokescreen and to soften up the target by getting it good and scared. I think soon - like October or November when it's cooler and USA troops can avoid getting overheated and needing air conditioning.

The target is the military supporters of Saddam, who will feel very soft by the time the first tank appears at the end of the street. The average guy drafted into Saddam's troops will be looking for an exit, preferably to the winning side with a good pay packet.

Saddam will not be softened up but he can't do much on his own [even with Uday's help]. He loves all this stuff and is having the time of his life. He's in a no-lose situation [as determined by his values, not those of the attackers]. If he dies in a bunker, what a blaze of glory. If he wins by some fluke, omigosh!!! How great would that be? "Win" in his case would be to remain in power, even at any cost.
